Attending lunches of the local Chamber of Commerce, it's apparent
that the member small business operators are remiss of the fact that big business
is pursuing an agenda which does NOT serve the needs of the small business operator.
Besides getting Inc. magazine there are some organizations which DO focus
on small business operators: NFIB
& NSBA.
About 75% of Americans are employed by small business.
Most technological innovations do not come from big companies.
The foundation of colonial America was the farmer and small
business man.
Want to see big-time gamblers living on the edge? Visit a family
owned farm.
Corporate agribusiness is bad news for the health of Americans.
The mega farms are feeding us genetically engineered food. Avoid grocery shopping
at supermarkets. Either sprout or grow your own vegetables or buy your groceries
at health food stores.
For the best of all worlds for your career, your self-esteem,
your family's future, and to practice grassroots democracy: join or form a (a
3+ person) partnership or an employee-owned cooperative.
Workplace Rules Protect Home Offices
Washington (AP) -
The Labor Department has advised companies that they are responsible
for federal health and safety violations that occur at the home workplaces of
their telecommuting employees, The Washington Post reported.
An
Occupational Safety and Health Administration advisory makes employers responsible
for ensuring an employee's home office has ergonomically correct furniture, proper
lighting, ventilation systems and emergency medical plans and equipment, the newspaper
said in today's editions. The OSHA letter says that when an employee works at
home ``the employer is responsible for correcting hazards of which it is aware,
or should be aware,'' the Post reported.
Smart Idea from NFIB - Small-Business Health Plans would
allow small businesses to band together across state lines, through their membership
in an association, to purchase more affordable health insurance. Unions and large
corporations already have this ability; passage of Small Business Health Plan
legislation (S. 406 in the Senate) would level the playing field for small business.
President George W. Bush strongly supports Small-Business Health Plan legislation
and the U.S. House of Representatives has passed this legislation numerous times
in past congressional sessions. But the Senate has yet to act. Tell your Senators
that we need their support THIS SESSION for the No. 1 health care priority for
NFIB and small business! Tell your lawmakers to co-sponsor and pass S. 406.
NSBA Supports the Fair Tax - "NSBA members voted
the Fair Tax as the organization's No. 1 priority for the 109th Congress. A 23%,
single rate, national retail sales tax, the Fair Tax will be applied to the sale
of all consumer goods and services at the final point of consumption. More information
about the Fair Tax is available in our issues section."

Me: This sounds too much like a Republican scam to screw the
poor at the benefit of the rich. Again.
