Will my sendmail functions be affected when I change the MX records for my domain,
which will route all email traffic to Everyone.net's servers? : In general,
you should be very careful about changing MX settings for your domain. If you
have an email server handling mail for "yourdomain.com," changing the
MX settings for "yourdomain.com" will affect what address your mail
is routed no matter what email software you are using (Sendmail, Eudora, CC:Mail,
etc.). But Everyone.net lets you forward your personal or company-related mail
to a different domain so you can access it through any pop account using any email
software. If you choose another variation of the domain name such as "mail.yourdomain.com"
for your email service, then the email operation for "yourdomain.com"
will not be affected.

Is there a benefit to choosing a URL
for my email service (also called a hostname URL) under the Everyone.net domain?:
Absolutely! If you choose to use the hostname URL for your email service
under the Everyone.net domain such as http://companyname.services.everyone.net,
you don't have to ask your web-hosting provider to create a CNAME record for your
email service. If you choose to use a URL for your email service under your domain
such as http://services.companyname.com, you will have to ask your web-hosting
provider to create your hostname URL entry to point to our servers.

Can I use your email service when I am
using a third party web-hosting provider?: Yes. As long as you own your
domain, you can use our service. To direct mail to the email service you set up
through Everyone.net, you need to have your web-hosting provider or ISP change
the MX record and create a CNAME record, which will point an Internet address
that belongs to your domain to our web servers where your email service resides.
You can also choose to have a CNAME created under Everyone.net’s domain so your
web-hosting provider does not have to create a CNAME record for your email service.

There are no limits to the number of
accounts that can be established on your email system.

Stage 3 of the Site Control Center will show you how to update your Cname and
MX records by contacting your ISP or web hosting provider if you don't run your
own domain name server. You can offer free email by directing people to the page
that hosts your email service, so they can access or sign up for a free email
account.

What is a CNAME record and who creates
it?: Once you have selected a hostname URL for your email service, you
need to request that your web-hosting provider, usually an ISP, create a hostname
URL entry (also called a CNAME record) to point to your email service on our servers.

After the update propagates through the
DNS, you will be able to complete Stage 3 and Stage 4 of the email set up in the
Control Center and your email service will be activated.

Can we display our logo on the registration form and email service pages? :
Yes. You have complete control of the company banner and company logo you
want displayed on the registration form and on the email service pages.

What is email stationery and how is it
used?: Email stationery is the background image for email messages sent
by your end-users. In the Site Control Center's Email Customization Center (Step
6: Images and Banners), we give you the ability to upload background images you
would like to use for the mail messages sent by your end-users. You can upload
(no wider than 500 pixels) as many email stationery as you’d like so that your
end-users can choose from when they send a mail message.

Everyone.net evenly splits the advertising banner and promotional signature message
inventory with you.

You are completely responsible for providing
banner advertisement and site promotional signatures for your half of the ad space.
For more information about sharing advertising space with Everyone.net, please
see section 3-C of the Client Agreement.

What is a promotional signature (tagline) and how do I use it? : Every
email sent by your end-users will have a footer at the bottom for you to advertise
to the recipients of the emails. We evenly share this promotional signature space
with you. Your promotional signatures and ours will take turns appending outgoing
messages. If you choose, you can sell this space to advertisers to generate extra
revenue. You are responsible for selling your share of the promotional signatures
and advertising banners.

Will Everyone.net help me sell my half
of the advertising inventory? : Not yet. We currently do not help our
site partners sell their advertising inventory, but we plan to in the future.
Currently, site partners can use their share of the ad inventory in any way they
like.

Can I use an outside ad service (e.g.,
Double Click) or banner rotation program for my ads?: Though there can
be multiple ads in the advertising space, Everyone.net does not directly support
the rotation of more than one ad at a time. To rotate multiple ad banners in the
shared advertising space, you can use an ad banner rotation program (like your
own ad server, or an ad service agency like DoubleClick, etc.). Using an ad rotation
program or service, you will provide html code in the Site Control Center that
points to a CGI script rotating the ad banners.

Do you provide a POP3 and SMTP server for browser-based email?: Our email
service is web-based only. We do not offer POP3 and a SMTP server for browser-based
email. We do not plan to offer this in the future either, our business model is
web based and we want to stay within that area of service.

You can always delete any account that proves to be abusive or idled.

How can I access, delete, or forward accounts
proven abusive or idle?: The Control Center's "User Management"
allows you to search, delete, reserve, or forward email accounts. Through it,
you can view how many people use your email service and administer it accordingly.

Does Everyone.net have a mechanism to prevent
end-users from Spamming other end-users? : Yes. We will soon offer site
statistics, which will include the number of messages each account has sent per
day, week, month, and all time. This way you can monitor and delete any end-user
accounts that are sending an unreasonable amount of mail. | |
| | What
are some scenarios where my email service might not function correctly or that
I should troubleshoot?: Scenario 1: Make sure your ISP configured the
nameserver that is authoritative for your domain. To find out, visit: http://networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois and enter your domain. If the domain servers
shown are not your ISPs, you must modify your Network Solutions records. To do
so, visit http://networksolutions.com. Your ISP should provide you with the information
needed to change this. Scenario 2: Make sure you use the correct domain
name when you set the DNS records. If you have your own mail server, make sure
it is not still trying to handle the email for the web-based service as well.
Scenario 3: Once you set up your email service, make sure you give allow
some time before the account can receive mail. Scenario 4: Make sure
you or your web-hosting provider update your Domain Name Server (DNS) on all of
the name servers (not just one). Make sure you have the same settings on all of
the name servers. If you only update one nameserver, you may get a conflict when
the secondary name server is in. | |
| | What
happens to emails sent between the time my web host changes MX records and the
time I setup forwarding?: The mails will most likely bounce because the
destination does not exists for the addresses. | |
