Proportional Representation

(or Full Representation)

* Voter turnout among adult Americans in 2002 elections: 39% - Voter turnout among adult Germans in 2002 elections: 75%

* All Republican and so-called Democratic primaries and caucuses require that convention delegates be allocated by full representation (a.k.a. “proportional representation”). That means that if a candidate wins 20% of the vote, that candidate will win about 20% of the state’s delegates. The candidate who wins the most votes will win the most delegates – but a fair share of delegates rather than all of them, UNlike what happens in “winner-take-all” elections.

Thanks for writing with your concerns. Dennis has spoken up for proportional representation on several occasions. My understanding of the problem is that this will take a constitutional amendment. The method of selection in our country is a "winner take all" system, which does not support a third party. Getting support for it will not be easy, but Dennis is in favor of it.

Please keep an eye on the www.kucinich.us website for updates to the campaign's progress, the issues, and his schedule as well as downloadable campaign materials.

Once again, thank you.

Kucinich for President Campaign

Laws impacting the structure of Congress have an impact on the campaigns for the Presidency. Not to mention the American Presidential electional is a SHAM as long as the obsolete Electoral College still exists, since it's they and NOT the popular vote which decides the occupant of the White House.

But by default, America has only a two-party system as long as Proportional Representation (PR) is NOT law of the land as it is in civilized countries, ie Canada & Europe.

With Republicans and Democrats being the corporate whores that they are, they sabotage third party efforts by co-opting the debate process away from the League of Women Voters and excluded Ralph Nader from the 2000 debates.

Neither the Republicans nor the so-called Democrats want true representational government in America.

Third party efforts in America are NOT the spoilers. It's the Republicans and so-called Democrats spoiling the opportunity of there being real freedom of political expression in America.

Example of Proportional Representation (or Full Representation)

Let's that the population of the Galactic Federation consists of 20 billion Grays, 30 billion Pleadians, and 50 billion Arcturians.

So, of the 1000 representatives in the Grand Council of the Galactic Federation; 200 are Grays, 300 are Pleadians, and 500 are Arcturians.

How each party selects their representatives is strictly a separate party issue, but they know how many seats in the Grand Council are reserved for their party.
